McKay Building Replacement

About the Project

The McKay Building Replacement Project represents the largest capital improvement effort in the history of BYU–Hawaii. Approved by the Board of Trustees, this multi-year initiative will replace several aging campus buildings, including the David O. McKay Classroom Building, the McKay Faculty Building, the Aloha Center, and Flag Circle. The new academic complex is designed to support the university’s mission and future growth.

This transformative project will create modern learning environments, strengthen campus gathering spaces, and enhance student, faculty, and community experiences for decades to come.

Latest Quarterly Update

In June 2026, the underground utility tie-ins are progressing steadily, alongside the successful backfilling and waterproofing of the elevator pit.

Construction across individual structures is moving forward seamlessly. At Building B, Insulated Concrete Form (ICF) installations continue on the East wing while the West wing’s slab-on-grade is now complete.

Meanwhile, concrete pours for the footings remain underway at Building C. Plumbing rough-ins have officially commenced at Building D, where the foundation pad is also nearing completion for the underground sewer settling layout.
